Applying for NICET Certification in the New Customer Portal

In October we enhanced our customer portal. The most efficient way to apply for NICET certification is through the new portal. The new process gives candidates access to requirements, progress toward certification, entry and retrieval of submitted experience documentation, and real-time exam scheduling.

If you haven’t accessed your online account since the launch of the new system you must reset your password. Do Not “Create a New Profile” unless you have never had an account with NICET, online or off.

To start a new application or continue an application already in process, login then click “Apply” from the left side navigation.

Apply

This takes you to a page with a list, in the form of “Application Cards” of all the certifications and levels NICET currently offers. Use the Search bar at the top or click Next at the bottom to find the program and level for which you are seeking certification. You may choose the highest level you are seeking or the level you are seeking now by clicking “Save to Home” on the appropriate card.

The “card” now resides on your home screen. Click the Exam name to purchase and schedule. Click “Apply Here!” to complete experience documentation, send a request to your verifier (all levels) or recommender (Levels III and IV), and upload major project write-up (Level IV).

When the verifier or recommender completes the performance measures or recommendation the applicant will see it here too.

Verifier Recommender Major Project

Document experience in the Work History section. This section is also accessible through your profile and the Active Practitioner category under Continuing Professional Development. To add Work History click “+ Add”.

Work History

This opens the set of fields for your employment details. The bottom of this section contains a “+” symbol to add the percentage breakout, and detailed description for each subfield technical for which work was performed in the time period.

Click “+ Add” to add another time period.

When you have completed all the application parts and are ready to submit to NICET for review, click “Finalize”.

Keep in mind, NICET still reviews the experience documentation in the order they are received based on the date of passing/meeting the exam requirement. Once you meet the exam requirement and submit documentation NICET will review the documentation in the order it is received. Next, if all requirements are met, NICET will issue certification. If any requirements are missing or deficient, NICET will add a message to your online portal with a notification by email that explains what still need to be completed to meet the certification requirements.

While we transition completely to online applications, we recognize that many candidates have applications in various stages of the process and submission methods. During this time NICET staff is committed to completing reviews in a timely manner and moving as much of the process to your portal as we can. We appreciate your patience and cooperation.
