NICET’s digital credentialing program for its certification holders will be available in early 2022. These secure, digital representations of NICET’s certifications will provide engineering technicians the capability to easily manage, share and make use of their credentials. Once available, individuals who complete the industry-set minimum requirements and earn certification will also be able to share the accomplishment digitally. This includes a rollout to anyone with a current active certification.
The digital “badges” will eventually replace the approval letters, certificates and wallet cards NICET issues for initial certification, upgrades and recertification. The latest technology allows certification holders additional ways to display and publicize the credentials they hold. This includes email signatures, websites, social media and more. The badges are linked to real time information about the certifications and the rigor of the requirements to attain them. Plus, certification holders can print a hardcopy certificate any time they need one. Since built-in security features reduce the chance of false claims of certification, stakeholders (employers, contract specifiers, government officials, etc.) will have a more reliable capability to verify that an individual possesses the NICET certifications as claimed.
We are excited about the possibilities and believe the potential for qualified individuals to better showcase their accomplishments is promising. We also believe that increased exposure of NICET Certification holders in a consistent verifiable electronic format will improve the recognition of the certification programs. As we move forward additional information will be available on our website and will be communicated via email and within candidate’s online record.
