The development work for In-Building Public Safety Communications will finish in June. The fourth and final exam in this new program will be available in July.
NICET started recruiting Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for the Job Task Analysis (JTA) committee that will confirm and amend the knowledge skills and abilities for the Fire Alarm Systems (FAS) certification. Once the JTA is complete and validated an exam blueprint will be designed. Staff and SMEs will use the blueprint to conduct item writing, item edits, item review, item approval, test assembly, a passing score study, standard setting, and publishing in sequence. We will follow the ISO/IEC 17024 Standard Conformity assessment — General requirements for bodies operating certification of persons for this update and will seek accreditation following the release of the new exams. Most, if not all, of the process will be virtual. The entire project will take 12-18 months.
